My Dream Job — Sreeya

“To infinity and beyond!!!” Do you know where this catch phrase originated? Do you love Toy Story? Well you can thank Steve Jobs and his fellow multimedia artists for that. A MULTIMEDIA ARTIST?!? That just so happens to be my dream job and it belongs to the arts/AV technology and communications cluster. What exactly does a multimedia artist do? Why would I be good for this job and why do I really want this job? What kind of schooling do you need for this job? What kind of outlook does this a multimedia artist have for the future?
Multimedia artists are the ones who create most of the artwork you see in big cities such as billboards and signs. Multimedia artists go through a long process to make one advertisement. First, they get a request for a piece of art or a video clip. Then, they start by making a rough draft. Next, the multimedia artist(s) remake more detailed sketches till the make one they really like. After that, the multimedia artist has to take a picture of their drawing and upload it onto a computer. Later, they can edit on the computer until he or she is fully satisfied. Finally, they take it to an editor, who does his job, and then the piece of art is ready to be published.
As you can see being a multimedia requires some skills. And I think that I have some of those skills. For example, I am good at art and I enjoy it too and being good at drawing is important for a multimedia artist. It is important for a multimedia artist to have an artistic streak in them because they need to be good at designing posters and advertisements. Also, I am pretty good at using computers, which is another important skill that a multimedia artist needs to have. I can do many cool things on the computer and I know how to operate it well. Sometimes I need to ask my dad for help when I am using my laptop, but I am still figuring out new features on my laptop every day.
Furthermore, I really, really, really want this job when I grow up. I can think of many pros and zero cons for being a multimedia artist. For example, you would get to be around computers all day. Also, you get to work anywhere without having to travel around a lot. A multimedia artists job wouldn’t be that easy but its a lot of fun. Plus you get to make a pretty good amount of money. And then there is the satisfaction seeing you artwork for display in big cities and maybe even on television if you work hard enough.
In addition, in order to become a multimedia artist you would need some proper schooling and degrees. You need at least a bachelor’s degree in college. Also, in high school you should take as many art, graphic design and computer classes as possible. You should tiy to get a degree in art and industrial design. When you want to begin your career, you should attend professional conferences so you can meet and learn from experts. They can probably teach you the rest of what you need to know to become a multimedia artist.
In addition to all that, the outlook for multimedia artists is great. Most other jobs the new robots and other machines are taking over. But as the world gets more technological multimedia artists will really be in demand. Because this is one job that a computer can’t and probably will never be able to do all by itself. For example, You can teach a robot to do surgery or organize the shelves in a store but it will never be able to think of fancy new poster designs all by itself. Plus a robot doesn’t have an appreciation for art.
In conclusion, being a multimedia artist is my dream for the future. They are the ones who create all the artwork found in great cities, and they make all kinds of animations such as Toy Story and Brain Pop. Along with all the pros that I mentioned, this job has an awesome outlook and the skills that it requires are the things that I am most interested in. This is why Multimedia Artists RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
