I’ve always kind of known what I wanted to be when I grow up. I really want my career to be music. For as long as I’ve lived, music has been a big influence on me. I always have music playing in my room, even at twelve in the night! It drives my family members insane. I love to sing and make music on different instruments. Music is something that speaks very clearly to me, my mood is always reflecting the kind of music I’m listening to. I’ve had lots of experience with music as I played the violin for three years, sing in school choir and have had many solo opportunities as well. Currently I’m self-teaching myself the piano/keyboard. And in another year I hope to start playing the guitar. Music will always be my entire life, playing instruments and singing is a part of me.
Once I am the appropriate age, I hope to go into the music industry as a singer or musician. My favorite instrument is the piano/keyboard. I want to be able to sing and play the piano/keyboard and become an artist. I enjoy listening to many different and unique artists and look up to them as well. These artists inspire me to do things and be a better person. One day I hope to do that. Music also helps me concentrate. For example, when I am doing homework I need music to focus. Writing it, listening to it, or singing it…music also puts a smile on my face.
I want to be able to go to work in the morning with a smile on my face that never leaves as though it is cemented onto my face.
Even though I want to be a musician, being an architect is also appealing to me. It is an architect’s duty to prepare and present proposals to clients, advise clients, produce detailed drawings, negotiating with contractors, attending meetings with clients and professionals, coordinating work with contractors, making visits to check on progress of buildings, making sure the project is running within the agreed time frame and dealing with certain problems that may arise as the building is being constructed. Drawing is also one of my passions, 1 enjoy to sketch which is a very important quality to have as an architect. Drawing comes quite naturally to me although being a perfectionist, producing a finished piece takes me quite a while as I like to include every little detail and element.
One skill that is unequivocally necessary as an architect is organization. I’m very OCD. I can’t work in a mess. I clean my room every day and make sure my surroundings are always tidy and in tip-top shape. Also as I love making new friends, meeting clients won’t be a problem at all. Attending meetings bring a thrill of excitement for me as I get to hear others ideas. I’ll admit it, I’m not the best for everything and being able to hear opinions of others and incorporate their ideas within my own would be simply wonderful. Being paid to draw and meet people and oversee a project that I designed would be amazing.
Overall, being a musician or an architect would be a dream come true for me. I really enjoy art and music. They both are great career choices for me in the future and I would be lucky to be doing something that I love. Honestly when I grow up I might want to be something else. I don’t know yet. And you know what? That’s okay. I’m only a kid, I’ve still got plenty of time to figure it out. As long as I end up happy doing what I do, any career is okay with me.
