My Dream Job — Sanjana

At a young age, it’s hard to know what you want to do in life.
There are so many things to do and not enough time (at least that’s what we think). One important thing for your future is your occupation. I feel that your job should be to your interest. In any job I choose I want to be able to change the world, even if it’s a small change. Looking at that important piece 1 am debating with 3 areas of study. Law, Medicine, or to lead a company (CEO). But for now I’m leaning towards Medicine. To be precise I want to study surgery.
As a child I hadn’t seen much of the importance of a doctor. I knew that they checked to make sure you are growing properly and you are developing. But what I hadn’t known is how important they are to our society. We all go to a doctor when we’re sick and when we need some help. So, as I become older I learn more about them and the more I learn the more I’m drawn in to this role. These people have changed so many lives that together they make a huge difference in society, and I want to be part of those people who help others no matter what the situation requires.
To be a doctor there are many skills needed. For example, a doctor should be calm when facing a problem, he/she should be able to communicate with others well, they should be perfectionists, not mind looking at blood, etc. I believe that I have these qualities in me, and even if I have to work hard to improve on these skills and many others, I will not quit. To become a doctor I must complete 8 years of Med school. It takes a lot of time, effort, and hard work to get through 8 years of school but as others in the past have gotten through I will do the same. I know, to be a doctor that I must work very hard but I am willing to put in the extra effort for my future.
Steve Jobs once said, “The only way to do great work is to love what you do.” I absolutely agree with this logic. What is the point of doing something if you won’t put 100% into it? I believe that if I truly love my job, no matter what, I will succeed because all my effort would have gone into it and that I would not mind how much time I had put into my studies. All that matters is if I’m up for this challenge and if I will take on this responsibility. Every career has different skills needed for the job to succeed.
But some tilings are needed for all careers. A few of these things are the proper attitude, your full attention, and for you to enjoy what you do. The only thing stopping me from reaching my goal is myself. So no matter what I will succeed. I will try the hardest I can to be the best I can. And lastly I know I’ll make mistakes on the way, I’ll just get up and brush myself off and I’ll continue. At the end of the day I want to do what I love to do and I want to give back to the community.
