Favorite Summer Activity — Arush

Summer is one of my favorite seasons. I feel so happy to see the lush green grass, colorful flowers, bird’s nests and birds chirping all around. In this season most of the activities are so much fun. Activities like playing basketball, playing soccer, cycling, feeding the rabbits, going for walks, reading, swimming and many more.

My most favorite summer time activity happens to be an indoor activity. I love to draw. Just like reading, drawing takes me to a whole new world. When I get upset or do not have anything to do, I draw pictures. To draw pictures, one does not require too many things. Pencil, paper and a sheet of white paper is all I need to make my mind wonder. Wonder about nature. In my art world, I am the creator. When I draw, I explore everything around me. If I am drawing a bird, I question myself about its wings. Why does it have such a shape? How does the wing help it fly so high in the sky? What would have happened if the shape of the wing was a circle? The pattern of wings is another story.

I draw pictures of special occasions I have had. Some of my older drawings represent special moments like, when I went to carnival, my white belt test at my karate school. Still remember vividly, I used to color my pictures in rainbow colors when I was five years old. My art teacher, Mrs., Dave always encourages me to use my imagination. There is no right and wrong way to color a picture. It’s however one sees it. This is what appeals to me the most.

One of my most favorite drawings is the one I drew with charcoal. I drew a picture of a giraffe with charcoal. Charcoal is a piece of burned wood. Charcoal comes in all different ways. You need a special sharpener for charcoal stick. Charcoal gives a black and white effect. This was something new for me as colors always fascinate me. The difference between paint and charcoal is that paint can be different color but charcoal is only black.

As I grow up I want to draw in many more mediums. Art world is so vast. Weather I become an artist or not, I will always continue drawing. It makes me so happy.
