My Favorite Book — Akash

One of my favorite books that is profoundly inspirational is “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald. It tells the story through a narrator named “Nick Carraway” by showing his perspective and feelings. His cousin, Daisy, is married to Tom Buchanan whom Jay Gatsby loves to be around because of her rich sense and many more attributes. The book ends in a blend of physical and emotional imagery through Nick’s view. This book has many themes but the one theme that sticks out to me and is omnipresent is the American Dream. The American Dream is what everything you want that makes you satisfied and completely fulfill your needs. Gatsby’s dream was to be rich, be with Daisy and have a swell life. His obstacle was to avoid/destruct Tom’s love with Daisy in the process. He tried by throwing extravagant parties and by taking Daisy places in his own car, which made Tom angry, and even more furious when she accidentally crashed into Myrtle, George Wilson’s wife. This made Gatsby look bad and Tom’s hatred against Gatsby was remained forever, even though George Wilson shot him. Although Gatsby did not achieve his American Dream I can related his persistence to my own life in the sense that my American Dream is to do well on the SAT, go to a good college, have a great job and get paid well. This would make me proud and work happily. My brother would take in vicariously pleasure from my achievements and go the extra mile. In life, the key is happiness as it’s like a big movie.
