My Dream Job — Stephanie

In my life I have had many dream jobs, from wanting to be a teacher, or a lawyer, or a doctor. But now that I am older, I realize that those jobs don’t interest me anymore. But, I now know what I want to do after high school and college. I actually have two possible dream jobs, here is one. From being in karate for almost 8 years now, and being a Junior Instructor at karate, I want to have a job as an instructor to teach kids and help them get the dreams I had when I was their age. I dont just want to stop there. After teaching for a while, I would want to open my own karate school, and be as successful as the karate school I go to now. I know that opening a karate school isn’t as easy as you think. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication. I want to open my own karate school because when I am helping out with classes at my school, I like to see the kids having fun and getting their new belts. I have seen kids at their little dragon classes, and now I see them as gold belts and green belts; some even have their purple belts. I like to see the kids improve so much. When I see them I remember when they could barely pay attention in class. Now they are focused and listen to the teacher every class. So, I love the improvement from the kids. I also like to see that the kids know everything doesn’t have to be perfect. They don’t just go to learn about karate, or to get a new belt, or to see friends. They go to have fun, and thats what is most important. When I was younger I thought everything had to be perfect, but I realized that having fun is one of the most important things. The happiest things in a karate instructor’s job is seeing the kids having fun. That is why I would want to open my own karate school.

My second dream job would be to open up my own cheer gym. I am a competitive All-Star cheerleader. I see gyms all around New Jersey that love what they do. When I start my own cheer squad, I want to make a difference, not only as a gym owner, but as a coach. Most coaches on a team want nothing but their team to win. Dont get me wrong, I would want my team to win too. But some coaches take it too far by screaming at their girls by getting second place and not first place. I want to be the coach to show the girls it doesn’t matter what place they get, as long as they are having fun, it’s all ok. So many girls stress because they know that if they don’t win, the they are going to get screamed at. The girls need to know that it isn’t all about winning. But it is good to win sometimes! Also, I see some cheerleaders on TV or being interviewed on the computer say that they want to win for their coach. I think that is amazing. But I have never heard a cheerleader say that they do it for themselves. When they do it for someone else they focus on is trying to win. Like I said, you can’t win every time. Sometimes there is going to be a better team than yours that day. Almost all the time winning is the most important thing to a cheerleader. I think that should not be the case. I think that every girl and every team is a winner in their own way. I would the girls I would be coaching, “Just because the judges scored the other team a higher score, it doesn’t mean that team is better than your team. Just because they got the bigger trophy than you did, it doesn’t mean that they had the brighter smiles than you”.That is something I think all cheerleaders should know going into competitions. So, that is why another one of my dream jobs is to open up my own cheer gym. That is why I want to open up my own cheer gym.

Those dream jobs of mine is something I really hope to accomplish when I am older. I want kids to achieve the same goals and dreams I have now, being in both sports. If I end up not opening my own cheer gym or karate school, I would definitely work as a coach for cheer or an instructor for karate. So, opening up my own karate school or opening up my own cheer gym are my two dream jobs I hope to accomplish one day when I am older!
