Tabeen has sent us the following poem. Thanks so much!
A FEW WORDS
If I were to love someone,
Must I follow the conventions?
The gestures, the gifts,
The surprises, the kisses.
Or perhaps I’d have to be
the sought after soul mate.
The one who’d never leave you.
The one who’s very existence would cease, in your absence.
Or maybe I’d be
the shadow that never left your side.
So intermingled with you,
you’d be confused of ‘I’ and ‘we’.
Stay your heart, sweet love of mine.
For the banality of true love,
Shall never touch you and I,
Will never inspire boredom.
You and I will be one,
But only with the motion of the earth.
We will be faithful shadows,
But only of fate’s plans with us.
We are forever, you and I.
Because that is how it must be,
Not because we deem it so,
Not because our hearts tell us so,
But because there is no other way.
Let us walk into the light,
Of peace, of hope,
Of cherished dreams, of truth.
Faithfully apart.
Forever whole.
