Qamrun Abedin, MD

Qamrun Abedin, MD is a Psychiatrist who works with the Central New York Psychiatric Center at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility. She also serves as an attending physician at Lincoln Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Abedin completed her medical training at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine, Bergen Regional Medical Center, and the Medical College of Georgia. She is a graduate of Barisal Medical College.

In her current position, Dr. Abedin provides mental health treatment to at-risk communities in a maximum security correctional facility for women. In this work, Dr. Abedin has seen first-hand the ways in which inadequate early childhood support results in long term economic and social harm for individuals and society at-large.

Drawing on this background, Dr. Abedin has dedicated her time to working with organizations such as the Bangladesh Medical Association of North on providing cultural and charitable support to needy communities. She also co-founded an NGO focused on disseminating medical health information through television programming to individuals in Bangladesh. She is excited to be part of the Connect Get Up and Go team and is looking forward to continuing work on this important project.
