Mark Schuster is the Senior Dean of Students at Rutgers University. As Senior Dean Mark works with students, faculty and staff to create vibrant and inclusive communities that enhance the educational experience for all students. He advises each campus student government and remains sensitive to student cultural and ideological diversity. He is also responsible for assisting students having difficulties beyond her or his control due to medical, emotional, familial, psychological, or financial reasons.
Mark received his Masters in Sport Psychology and Cultural Studies of Sport concurrently with his PhD coursework in Higher Education, both from the University of Iowa. In addition to his job as Dean of Students, Dean Schuster is affiliate faculty in American Studies, Psychology, and Women Gender Studies. Mark teaches a course on Sport in American Culture and Culture Games: What Do Major Sporting Events Tell Us About Society and Culture? He works closely with many groups at Rutgers University including being the founder of the university-wide Social Justice Committee. According to Mark, “Education is the best gift one can offer to the society.”
