I founded Connect Get Up and Go, Inc. with the hope of encouraging children to become leaders with a combination of qualities like values, beliefs, motivation and passion; so that they may come forward in helping under-privileged children to have a better future.
We all want to raise respectful, kind, confident children who are competitive in today’s world and are willing to help those in need. Encouraging your child to take an interest in charity from an early age can play a substantial role in boosting his or her personal development. Involving children in philanthropy teaches compassion and empathy. It teaches them to care for those less fortunate, and this knowledge and understanding stays with them for their whole lives.
However, children do not develop empathy as adults do. It is hard for them to comprehend the context of other people’s suffering and imagine themselves in such a position. Children can find this difficult, as they have limited understanding about the world around them. We often hear from our children, “it is not fair”, a sense of injustice. This sense is very deep and can go either in a positive or in a negative direction.
Giving is empowering; it has positive inspiration on us. Children want to get involved with anything that makes them feel empowered. Getting a child to choose which charity he or she would like to contribute to is a good way of involving them. It helps children feel a sense of responsibility and boost up their confidence level as they receive positive feedback for their own beliefs. Picking a charity will make a child think about what makes a cause worth contributing to, rather than simply chalking it down as a good deed without thinking about it.
Involving your children in the Connect Get Up and Go – Charity Work will help them understand the meaning of social justice in a fun way. It will create a sense of purpose and belonging to a worthy cause that helps poor children with their education. Feeling helpful and needed often makes a change in a child’s thought process and thus makes a difference in their lives.
Participating in the Connect Get Up and Go – Creative Corner will also enhance the quality of children’s life considerably. Children will be able to make new friends and strengthen existing relationships when they can engage in creative arts with others who enjoy the same interests. Spending time acknowledging others and receiving encouragement in return raises everyone’s self-confidence. Boosting up self-confidence and self-esteem are the means to positive competencies in the 21st century. Since these feelings will help the younger generation to connect with peers, achievers, resources, and different life events, these connections eventually will make a difference in their lives and the lives of those that are less fortunate.
Making a difference starts from our own life.
Come join me in making a difference for a better future for all
